The city of Paris will start removing padlocks from the Pont des Arts Bridge tomorrow, effectively ending the tourist tradition of attaching “love locks” to the historic bridge. This news saddens me because I won’t be able to see in all of the amazing locks that visitors have been placing on this bridge for hundreds of years.
According to CNN, the bridge carries more than 700,000 locks with an estimated combined weight roughly the same as 20 elephants standing on a bridge designed for pedestrian traffic. Signs are placed all over in English and French near the bridge saying it would be closed for one week while the locks are removed. For such details on this article, visit CNN by clicking here.
